Abstract: Shampoo, a fundamental hair care product, plays a crucial role in cleansing the hair and scalp by eliminating dirt, oil, and product residue. Unlike their synthetic counterparts, herbal shampoos are crafted using natural ingredients such as plant extracts, herbs, and botanicals, providing a milder option. This study investigates the advantages of herbal shampoo compared to synthetic varieties, focusing on its natural components, gentle cleansing attributes, avoidance of harsh chemicals, support for hair health, and eco-friendliness. Additionally, it examines the fundamental structure of hair follicles and the stages of the hair growth cycle. The development of a polyherbal shampoo, incorporating fenugreek seed, hibiscus flower, onion, aloe vera, shikakai, guar gum, citric acid, and rose water, is outlined alongside the extraction techniques. Various evaluation criteria, including sensory properties, pH levels, spreadability, viscosity, foam generation, stability, dirt removal, and antimicrobial efficacy, are addressed. Findings indicate that the polyherbal shampoo formulation effectively combats dandruff, provides conditioning benefits, and demonstrates minimal adverse reactions. The conclusion underscores the increasing consumer inclination towards natural remedies and the promising future prospects for herbal shampoo, encompassing advanced formulations, personalization, sustainability, digital integration, global reach, and collaborative ventures.
