Abstract: Knowledge and attitude regarding childbirth preparation among pregnant mother reduces the mortality and morbidity rate of mother and fetus. Aims: The study aims to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding childbirth preparation among pregnant mother. Setting and Design: This study was conducted in Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Munshiganj, Amethi. It was a non experimental descriptive correlation research design. Methods and Materials: The study participants consist of 50. The participants were selected through non probability purposive sampling technique. The study includes normal and high risk mother of second and third trimester who can understand English and Hindi. The data is obtained by interview method using questionnaire and likert scale.
Statistical analysis used: Data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Frequency percentages were calculated for demographic variable, knowledge, and attitude. The chi square test and correlation coefficient will be used for inferential analysis.Results: It shows that the most of the pregnant mothers i.e., 80% had inadequate knowledge, 16% had moderate knowledge and 4% had adequate knowledge regarding childbirth preparation and In attitude, the majority of the pregnant mother i.e.54% had adequate attitude 44% had moderate attitude and 2% had inadequate attitude regarding childbirth preparation. The correlation between knowledge and attitude regarding childbirth preparation among pregnant mothers is positive, r=0.4192. The findings showed that there was a significant association between the types of family of mothers with their attitude regarding childbirth preparation but other variables like is educational status, gravida, trimester, family income, occupational status, religion, number of children, source of previous knowledge had no association. Conclusion: The results revealed that knowledge and attitude regarding childbirth preparation among pregnant mother still inadequate and these aspects should improve through health professional instructions methods.
