| Abstract: | ABSTRACT - Alcoholism refers to the drinking of alcoholic beverages to the point of causing damage to the individual and society. Heavy alcohol use can lead to damage of all the organ system and affects mental health. Alcoholism leads to increase tolerance to the alcohol and makes it difficult for the individual to control their consumption. GENERAL OBJECTIVES The Aim of The Study Is to Assess the Effectiveness of Motivational Therapy Among Adult Alcohol User. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES 1. To assess the effectiveness of Motivational Therapy among Adult Alcohol user 2. To find out the association between pre-test scores with demographic variables. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY In the present study quantitative research approach was used. Pre experimental one group pre-test post-test research design was appropriate to evaluate the effectiveness of motivational therapy among adult alcohol user in selected de addiction centre of Guwahati, Assam. Sample size is 60 alcohol users selected by using non-probability purposive sampling technique. The tools used for data collection were socio demographic Performa and Readiness to Change scale was used. Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULTS Findings showed that in pre-contemplation stage mean post-test score 0.32±3.06 was higher than pre-test score -1.33±2.43with mean difference 1.65 (t=3.062, df=59, p = 0.003) was statistically significant at p<0.05. Findings of the study reveals that motivational therapy is effective among adult alcohol user. There was no significant association between the pretest with demographic variables. CONCLUSION From the study result it was concluded that motivational therapy was effective among adult alcohol user. KEYWORDS: Effectiveness, Alcohol user, Motivational therapy, De addiction centre |
