Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood glucose levels due to insulin deficiency or resistance. The search for new anti-diabetic agents from natural sources is of paramount importance due to the side effects associated with conventional therapies. This study focuses on the phytochemical and pharmacological investigation of Glinuslotoides, a medicinal plant traditionally used for its therapeutic properties, to evaluate its potential anti-diabetic activity. The phytochemical screening of Glinuslotoides was conducted to identify the presence of bioactive compounds. Various solvent extracts were prepared and subjected to qualitative and quantitative analysis, revealing a rich presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and phenolic compounds. These phytochemicals are known for their diverse pharmacological activities, including anti-diabetic effects. In the pharmacological evaluation, the anti-diabetic activity of Glinuslotoides extracts was assessed using in vitro and in vivo models. The in vitro studies involved the inhibition of key enzymes linked to diabetes, such as alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase, while the in vivo studies were carried out on streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Parameters such as blood glucose levels, body weight, lipid profiles, and histopathological analysis of pancreatic tissues were monitored to determine the efficacy of the extracts.
