Abstract: Abstract: India's status as a secular democracy, accommodating a wide array of religions and sacred sites, offers a distinctive context for examining the relationship between religion and state governance. This study provides an analytical exploration of religious places and rights in secular India, with a particular emphasis on Hinduism. As the majority religion, Hinduism significantly shapes India's socio-political and cultural landscape. The research investigates how constitutional provisions for secularism ensure the protection of religious rights and the management of sacred spaces, while also maintaining public order and equality. The study delves into issues such as the regulation and administration of temples under laws like the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, and the role of landmark judgments, such as the Ayodhya case, in addressing conflicts between religious rights and secular governance. It also explores challenges like communal tensions, encroachments on secular principles, and the politicization of religious sites. The findings underscore the importance of adopting a balanced approach that respects the religious and cultural significance of sacred places while upholding the secular ethos of the Constitution. By fostering legal clarity, encouraging interfaith dialogue, and adhering to constitutional values, India can sustain its secular identity amid its diverse religious traditions.
