Abstract: Abstract BACKGROUND: Burnout poses a significant challenge to occupational health in the engineering field, where extended hours, high cognitive demands and strict deadlines can lead to emotional exhaustion, a reduced sense of achievement and feelings of detachment, all of which adversely affect psychological well-being. Psychological well-being is essential for effectively managing stress and sustaining productivity. It encompasses emotional stability, cognitive functioning and overall life satisfaction. Engineers facing burnout frequently deal with anxiety, depression and lack of motivation and impacts both their work and personal lives. In this study it is found that a significant negative correlation exists between burnout and psychological well-being among engineers, which is statistically significant at level (p-value< 0.0001). One of the primary aims of this research is to explore the relationship between burnout and psychological well-being among engineers in North Karnataka, offering insights that could enhance workplace policies and mental health support within the engineering industry. OBJECTIVE: To find out the correlation between burnout and psychological well-being. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study employed descriptive correlational research design with a convenience sample (n=80) from North Karnataka. Levels of burnout and psychological well-being were measured using Job Burnout Scale and Psychological Well-Being Scale respectively. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: Descriptive statistics- Percentage method and Karl Pearson’s Correlation is applied. RESULTS: Study shows a strong negative correlation between burnout and psychological well-being. A significant inverse relationship is confirmed, with prominent percentage of participants experiencing above average burnout and moderate psychological well-being. CONCLUSION: Higher burnout is significantly linked with lower psychological well-being among engineers, highlighting the need for targeted workplace interventions.
