Abstract - The present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of mucoadhesive buccal films of naproxen. The drug naproxen primarily finds its use for dental pain management and treatment of oral ulcer. The advance polymeric system is incorporated in the development of the buccal films. Polymeric system containing hyaluronic acid which serves both as mucoadhesive agent and also carries the epithelial tissue healing ability. The goal was to formulate the buccal films which are patient-friendly and provide longer mucoadhesive strength which aids in effective drug delivery. Buccal films formulations were prepared using various concentrations of mucoadhesive polymers, film-forming agents, plasticizers, Humectant, pH Modifier, Sweetening agent, and solvents and were evaluated for physical appearance, pH, Thickness, Weight Uniformity, Folding Endurance, Drug content, Swelling Index, In vitro drug release, ex vivo permeation. The prepared formulation of buccal films showed higher film characteristics and extended drug release, testifying to the efficacy of this delivery system and the possible benefits of hyaluronic acid incorporation.
