Whether it’s for research or innovation, accurate data is required. Similarly, in journalism, a vast amount of factual data is necessary to tell a compelling story. Data journalism is extremely important and useful for journalism in all fields.
In this study, we will examine data journalism and storytelling in the context of cultural reporting. The study will focus on the significance of data in cultural journalism, how a journalist uses data to craft a story, and the challenges they face in doing so.
The study will adopt a methods approach to collect qualitative data. A survey using a self-constructed questionnaire will be conducted among Cultural Journalists. For qualitative insights, in-depth interviews will be carried out with Cultural journalists, reports & experts of Akashwani, PIB and News Papers like The Indian Express, Times of India etc.
Conclusion drawn underlines that data play an important role in strengthening the understanding and admiration of culture by providing minute insights into art, music, literature and heritage. It assists to disclose public interest, economic pressure and effects of cultural policy and social media. Contemplative use of Data, make sure the soundness and avoid the misapprehension while effective data invention clarify complex information, making it approachable and appealing. Merging data with storytelling furnishes a complete understanding of cultural trends, improving the viewer’s experience and promoting deeper connection with various groups.
The motive of this paper is to utilize data in cultural reporting to increase narration, uncover unseen stories and humanize history. Addressing data gaps and manipulating the real time, logically improves the story while productive visualization promotes ethical journalism. This approach increases viewer engagement with the captivating insights, and a deep understanding of cultural events.
