Digital Variance Angiography (DVA) is a kinetic imaging derivative that processes raw angiographic cine sequences to accentuate contrast media motion while suppressing static background noise. Numerous retrospective and prospective studies confirm that DVA offers 2–4× higher contrast to noise ratio (CNR) than conventional Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA), enabling up to ~70 % reduction in radiation dose and contrast media, without compromising diagnostic utility
This article evaluates DVA’s real time use in the angiography suite, its effect on clinical decision making, and its potential for dose sparring protocols during peripheral and intraoperative interventions.
