Abstract: Abstract: The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to transform the Indian education system by promoting holistic learning, flexibility, and skill development. This paper explores the implementation of NEP 2020 in enhancing history learning outcomes, focusing on challenges and opportunities. It examines the policy's emphasis on multidisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and experiential learning in the context of history education. The study highlights potential challenges in aligning history pedagogy with NEP 2020 guidelines and identifies opportunities for improving learning outcomes. Moreover, implementing NEP 2020 in history education entails taking into account the policy's more general objectives of encouraging holistic education, curriculum design flexibility, and a focus on learning outcomes. Particularly in the teaching of history, multidisciplinary integration for a more thorough understanding can be achieved by combining history with disciplines such as political science, sociology, and literature. Experiential learning and critical thinking—promoting students' critical analysis of historical events through projects, discussions, and experiential learning—increases student engagement. Technology in history education can be enhanced by utilizing digital tools for interactive learning and primary source access. While addressing obstacles and seizing chances for improved history learning outcomes, the longer abstract emphasizes the necessity of bringing history pedagogy into compliance with NEP 2020's recommendations.
