Abstract
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a gradual decline in cognitive, functional, and behavioral abilities. This clinical overview outlines the commonly recognized stages of Alzheimer’s disease, providing a structured framework to understand its progression from preclinical changes to severe cognitive impairment. The stages—typically categorized as preclinical, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and mild, moderate, and severe dementia—offer critical insight into the evolving symptomatology and care needs of individuals affected by the disease. Understanding these stages is essential for early diagnosis, patient management, caregiver support, and the development of targeted therapeutic interventions. This review highlights the clinical features, diagnostic criteria, and functional implications associated with each stage, emphasizing the importance of timely recognition and individualized care planning throughout the disease course.
