Visually impaired people have a problem with their senses. That problem impacts how visually impaired people move around and how visually impaired people perceive what’s around them. Visually impaired people have tools, such as canes or guide dogs but those tools provide limited assistance to the visually impaired. Visually impaired people cannot identify what objects are, how far objects are or what is happening around them. The present invention is of a system that assists the visually impaired. The system includes a computer that detects objects in a timely manner. The system includes for providing the visually impaired person with information about what the computer detects. The system includes an object detection program. The system includes several features that work to compensate for the movement of objects. The system can determine distance to objects without additional equipment. The system includes for providing auditory feedback to the visually impaired about what the system detects. The auditory feedback is provided in a voice similar to a human voice speaking to the visually impaired person. The system operates independently of an Internet connection. The system is available to the visually impaired person while the visually impaired person is moving outside. Experimental data was collected to determine the effectiveness of the system. The experimental data indicates the system is effective. The system can detect objects quickly. The system can provide the visually impaired person with information about what the system detects. The system can be a valuable tool for the visually impaired. The system is user friendly. The system can provide the visually impaired person with increased independence. The system can provide the visually impaired person with increased safety for leading a normal life. Using computers to see and talk we can help the visually impaired. The visually impaired person can use the system to move into their environment and increase their awareness of objects around them. The system is a companion to the visually impaired person. The system can provide instructions.
