This study looks at forest fires, carbon loss, and climate change in Bijapur district from 2005 to 2024. Using satellite and climate data, it finds that fire incidents have almost doubled and the fire season has become longer. Dense forest areas have reduced, leading to carbon loss.
Higher temperatures and low rainfall are linked with increased fire risk. More fire cases are also seen near villages. Around 40% of the area falls under high fire risk. The study suggests better forest management and involvement of local communities.
