EEG (electroencephalography) is a typical non-invasive means for measuring brain electrical activity. Standard EEG systems are not used for education/research studies or IoT-oriented applications due to the expense of the equipment, the requirement for the measurements to happen in clinical settings, and the fact that they consist of bulky devices. This project provides an inexpensive IoT-based EEG measuring system consisting of the Bio Amp EXG Pill, the ESP32 microcontroller, a TFT display for output, and cloud-based visualization. The signals received from the scalp electrodes as microvolts of EEG are amplified and filtered by the Bio Amp EXG Pill. The ESP32 takes those signals and applies digital filtering and noise filtering techniques to them, then digitizes and processes them. The TFT display presents the real-time EEG waveforms, and the Wi-Fi connection allows for the storage of data and remote monitoring of the EEG cloud data. Overall, this project provides a working example of the integration of bio signal collection, embedded processing, and IoT functionality, and demonstrates the feasibility of creating an IoT EEG monitoring system for use in neuroscience education, BCI research, and cognitive research.
