| Abstract: | Drug abuse is currently one of the greatest public health and social issues across the globe and India. It is an extreme health and social issue in the urban women population. This research was aimed at evaluation of the trends, reasons and outcome of drug abuse in women in North Chennai. The past years have been characterized by the increased use of substances by women under different psychological, social and economic pretexts such as stress, pressure by peers, family issues and partners, boyfriends and other causes of financial crisis. The drug addiction among women in our society is a frequently concealed disease as it is stigmatized and most of the women lack the resources and information. |
