Abstract: Transformers play an important role in the transmission and distribution system. This paper presents an innovative design and implementation of a system for monitoring the load current, voltage level, transformer oil level and ambient temperature. To protect the transformer from mentioned parameters we used GSM based system. This system helps the transformers to operate smoothly and identify the problems before any difficult failure. It is installed at the transformer site and the above parameters monitored. If there is an abnormality or an emergency condition, the system sends message to mobile phone containing information according to the predefined instructions programmed in the Arduino controller. This system is developed for the user to easily recognize the problems before any failure in distribution transformer.
