Abstract: Cancer known medically as a malignant neoplasm, is a broad group of diseases involving unregulated cell growth. Not all tumors are cancerous; benign tumors do not invade neighboring tissues and do not spread throughout the body. There are over 200 different known cancers that affect humans. Cancer can be detected in a number of ways, including the presence of certain signs and symptoms, screening tests, or medical imaging. Once a possible cancer is detected it is diagnosed by microscopic examination of a tissue sample. Cancer is usually treated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. Few symptoms are specific, with many of them also frequently occurring in individuals who have other conditions. Cancer is the new "great imitator". Cancers are primarily an environmental disease with 90–95% of cases attributed to environmental factors and 5–10% due to genetics. It is nearly impossible to prove what caused a cancer in any individual, because most cancers have multiple possible causes. Targeted therapies work by influencing the processes that control growth, division, and spread of cancer cells, as well as the signals that cause cancer cells to die naturally (the way normal cells do when they are damaged or old). One of the examples of biochemical targets produced by carcinogens is reactive oxygen species (ROS). Ionizing radiation is a complete carcinogen &produces much of its DNA damage through ROS.
Keywords: Cancer; Anti-cancer drug, Cancer Metastasis, Mutations, etc.
