At present, many organizations are maintaining a lot of their data or information on cloud computing which provides a platform for data or information storage on cloud platform. It can be accessed at any time and from anywhere with the help of any devices over the internet. But there are some drawbacks regarding security, confidentiality and privacy on this computing platform. Cryptographic techniques are being used in the cloud platform to overcome these shortcomings in order to make it more secure as well as efficient. This paper focuses on various encryption and decryption for data with the help of cryptographic algorithms used in cloud environment, so as to enhance the security of data. For this sake a comparative study of symmetric algorithm including AES, DES, Blowfish and asymmetric algorithm which includes RSA, DSA, ECC has been done.
