Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most prevalent malignancy and cause of death in men globally. Tumor development is complex multistep process where age, family history, unhealthy lifestyle and gene mutation are the common risk factors involved in prostate cancer occurence. PCa detection is a major burden due its delayed progression and age based occurrence. Many healthy men undergo unneccesary invasive techniques due to false positive result of existing detection tools. A myriad of biomarkers discovered for detection of prostate cancer such as Prostate specific antigen (PSA), PHI (prostate health index), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), TRUS-guided biopsy Pro-PSA and PHI, the 4K score test, PCa antigen 3(PCA3), transmembrane serine protease protein 2 (TMPRSS2)-ERG, ExoDx Q7, Prostate Intelliscore, Prostate-1 (SChLAP1), SelectMDx, ConfirmMDx, Oncotype DX PCa assay, Prolaris, Decipher, and Embryonic Lethal, Abnormal Vision, Drosophila-Like 1 (ELAVL1). Among which PSA remained as a gold standard technique for detection of PCa. There is a requirement of non-invasive biomarker for early detection and will open new dimensions in the treatment regimen of PCa.
