Abstract: INTRODUCTION :Tattoos and piercings are rapidly spreading trend in modern culture. To know the perception and knowledge of people towards tattoos and piercing , a survey was conducted among the general population of Pune. METHOD : This study was carried out in 2023 through google form questionnaire which was distributed among Pune population, with means of QR code and links making it easier and more convenient. RESULT: Out of 500 participants , the most popular site is ear piercing that is 76.8% ,with higher prevalence towards trend and aesthetics especially among teenagers .72.8% believed that it is risky to undergo piercing or tattooing practices.51.2% (261) believe that it is important to know if they are allergic to any metal before undergoing piercing to prevent further complications. The data collected shows 53.8% (269) agrees that choosing ornamentation of best material helps in faster healing process. High percentage of participant around 80% people underwent piercing and tattooing without any informed consent .The overwhelming agreement among participant with 81% recognized the need and importance of licensed practitioners in piercing and tattooing. CONCLUSION: The concerning trend of individuals undergoing piercing or tattooing without any informed consent suggest a need for heightened awareness and education. A majority of participants recognized the importance of licensed practitioners in piercing and tattooing market, emphasizing value of professionalism and safety.
