Due to their exceptional capacity to combine with a variety of weakly soluble chemicals to create water-soluble inclusion complexes, cyclodextrins (CDs) are identified as promising medicinal excipients. Due to their capacity for complexation and other adaptable qualities, cyclodextrins have a wide range of uses in various fields. The history, chemistry, molecular structure, manufacture, and applications in the pharmaceutical sectors are highlighted in this article. This review stands out from others on the subject since it offers insightful information about the variables that influence cyclodextrin encapsulation. It also thoroughly analyses these insights.
