Abstract: ABSTRACT: The various embroidery crafts of Uttar Pradesh represent our rich cultural heritage tradition. Embroidery is a part of our heritage of creativity, aesthetics and skill and has fascinated the world. Traditional craftsmanship has been a very important and integral part of Indian Tradition and Culture. India is known for its diverse cultural setting, which results in different forms of craftsmanship. The main objective of this paper is to document traditional craftsmanship as a domain of ICH, with special reference to the applique work of Aligarh district. Since it is in accordance with the 2003 UNESCO Convention, the first step in safeguarding intangible heritage. It is also important for transmitting or communicating intangible cultural heritage from generation to generation, rather than on the production of its concrete manifestations. The applique work, besides being different from other forms of applique in terms of technique, raw material used, colour motifs, and design, shares many things of cultural and historical significance. involved, interviewed artisans to know about the issues and challenges they are facing in practicing this craftsmanship. Applique is a traditional embroidery style from north India. This delicate form of applique work was originally done using fine cotton fabrics. Applique work (Phool Patti ka Kaam) embroidery dates to the Mughal period.
