High blood pressure is a leading cause of heart disease and stroke as it damages the lining of the arteries, making them more susceptible to the buildup of plaque, which narrows the arteries. Stroke is the second leading cause of death and third leading cause of disability. A study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of educational package on Prevention and Warning signs of Stroke in terms of gain in knowledge among hypertensive patients in a selected urban community, New Delhi. The main objectives were: (i) To assess the effectiveness of educational package on Prevention and Warning signs of Stroke in terms of gain in knowledge among hypertensive patients and (ii) To find out the association of knowledge regarding Prevention and Warning signs of Stroke with selected demographic variables of hypertensive patients. Research approach used for the study was quantitative approach and research design used for this study was pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design.50 hypertensive patients were selected by Non-probability Purposive Sampling Technique. The data was collected through structured knowledge questionnaire. The findings of the study revealed that the mean post-test knowledge score (11.76) was greater than mean pre-test knowledge score (7.54) with the mean difference of 4.22 and the calculated‘t’ value of 9.92 which signifies that there was increased in level of knowledge among hypertensive patient after administration of educational package. Through the present study, the conclusion drawn was that there is a need of education/awareness program for the community people to improve their health status.
