The present study was aimed to assess the lactation efficacy among postnatal mothers.The objectives of the study were to assess lactation efficacy of postnatal mothers admitted to selected hospitals of Malappuram district and to find association between lactation efficacy and selected demographic variables of postnatal mothers. Non experimental descriptive approach with cross sectional survey design was used in this study. Non-probability convenient sampling was used as sampling technique. The tools used were demographic data sheet and LATCH SCORING . The assessment was done by interview schedule and observation of lactation efficacy of each participant after obtaining informed consent from them . The findings revealed that 57% of subjects had good lactation efficacy score and 2% had poor lactation score.it is also revealed that there is a statistically significant association between lactation efficacy and demographic variables like education of mother, residence and birth weight of the baby.
