| Abstract: | In modern era, people live busy lives with schedules that are very hectic due to which elderly people often feel ignored and neglected. This in turn can be detrimental for their physical and mental health. This can significantly affect their overall well being. The whirlwind of emotions that old age brings, some people are able to adjust and pacify their emotions while others often face serious concerning psychological issues in their lives. Old age often brings acceptance that things are the way they are and often cannot be changed. This can create hopelessness and surge of negative emotions when there is nothing to look forward to and everything is in constant state of chaos. This research paper is concerned with depression in the elderly people. Depression has become a significant problem in lives of elderly people and can be caused by a combination of factors ranging from chronic age related illnesses to psychological factors like isolation and cognitive decline. Treating depression in old age people is concerned with addressing the emotional and social needs of elderly people. Key words- Depression, loneliness, elderly, isolation |
